Aleksander Barkov is not russian

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksand

It seems like there is not a single team without a russian player.

And fans seem to be OK with that: reddit.com/r/nhl/comments/1241

I'm so sad about how much American rednecks like . I was hoping that American rednecks still hate commies and ruskies, but seems like the cotton-brained idiocracy has proliferated deep love for russia and .

@jonn
• Asking people to hate other people based on where they were born is … um, that’s a lot to unpack
• Most people don’t really have a say in where they were born
• very few have a direct say in international politics
• lest this this misconstrued as some sort of bothsidesing, unequivocally fuck Russia’s invasion and warmongering

@Smcc yeah, so? How come FIA handled the situation and NHL didn't?

Not a single russian is a victim. Maybe kids who were born after 2010, but then what the fuck were their parents doing?

Those who play in the NHL for 5+ years, can get a permanent residence with no issue. Some could've naturalised.

Also, if you followed in the past decade, you must remember ? Most prominent russkies in NHL were part of this wonderful initiative.

Please stop victimising russians. Ukrainians are the victims.

@jonn Oh, no, I’m not going to stan for Russians as victims here. It would be a great show of solidarity if the American sports leagues followed the international example.

I’m more worried about the efficacy of the “Foundations of Geopolitics” divide and conquer approach, that’s convinced so many Americans that supporting terrorism and treason is the logical use of their free speech.
