@julienmalka won't the cops barge in the moment someone decides to seed a Linux distro via bittorrent?
@julienmalka ah! Bittorrenting a linux distro isn't illegal, so some trusted person could do that.
But yeah, my policy is never to host bare metal servers in the "first world" countries. I pay a person to host and maintain my servers in some Eastern European country.
@jonn ahh yes, I think in France torrenting non copyrighted software is fine :)
@julienmalka yea. But cops appear at the door nonetheless. At least in #Germany.
@jonn in France in the worst case scenario they send a fine, not cops
@julienmalka protesting a fine is so much more annoying than explaining to an inspector what an opensource license is 😃
@jonn @julienmalka They what now?
I recall Germany having crap or no wifi in many places, but that’s next level…
@richlv a friend of mine in Berlin got a visit from an inspector for running a legitimate bittorrent seedbox. I think it was 2015? To his best understading, the guy was a cop.
@jonn Ah, 8 years ago, Bittorrent was much more popular...
But yeah, some German approaches seem to hinder digital development there.
@jonn Who’s someone ? This is my personal cluster, will only give/rent VMs to trusted people
