Being a centrist is a bit like being non-binary.
Feeling unwelcome amongst the people with whom I share morals, feeling repulsed by those with whom I don't.
Eh.
@tivasyk what's funny is that some centrists are so passive it's also cringe ;D
@jonn they might be afraid of expressing their opinion? despite declared liberty of thought, the modern world punishes argumentative (i'm not talking about evident propaganda) discussion pretty quickly and harshly.
@tivasyk oh no. Not the harsh response by the opressed people. :D
Idk, "cancel" culture is good if a bit ineffective.
Sincerely suggest checking out the book called "we need snowflakes", available on Audible.
@jonn don't think i'll buy it (or anything else) from audible (check cory doctorow's rant on the topic) and i don't find it available from the two large libraries i subscribe to (via libby), but some of the reviews (both positive _and_ negative, lol) suggest that indeed i'd be interested to either read or listen to the book, so i'll keep an eye open for it ;-)
@tivasyk I can send it to you by post!
@jonn thanks. i don't think i'd be comfortable with that though :-(
p.s. which is strange, i have my history of… well, «finding» books onlune ;-)
@tivasyk I'm ok with paying money for not owning the stuff I paid for on audible btw. I was surprised that I can listen to the titles I got with subscription after my subscription stopped. I'm also ok with audible perhaps underpaying the authors because as a reasonable person I buy what I like if it has drm-free option to buy it from the author / publishing house (watermarking is ok).
@jonn I guess you can safely generalize it to not being side enough - from my exp being not left enough is also not comfy socially
Btw there are a lot of variants of what is a root trait of being on the left side
@jonn i feel your pain. same sh*t, but i guess one has to learn to sacrifice if one values what one values.
