All things equal, I don't like "community drama". But all is not equal, and dismissing attempts to redress inequalities as nothing more than "community drama" makes you a "community asshole."

@ross I personally don't redress anything. I actively oppose this bullshit.

As an Eastern European, a bunch of lefties trying to fuck miltech over signals to me that they would rather I die or live under russian occupation. Pre-2022 I would side with them, but they have missed the memo about what's going on worldwide today.

Besides, can something be a community drama when the person stirring it barely participates (see screenshot attached)?

Also, please don't take my words lightly! I was absolutely identifying with direct action far left before I saw repeated incidents of either malicious disruption or useful idiocy (look up the origin of this term if you don't know it).

Currently I'm going through reshaping of identity, but I value CoCs, safe spaces, social justice, I oppose dehumanising practices of police states like the US and china.

Sadly, all things considered, the epitome of left is naivite, whereas the epitome of right is malice. Seems like the only correct place to be is left-centre, taking all the good stuff from the left thought, but decisively dismissing bullshit.

@ross also, can we, for the sake of constructive conversations, start talking about things precisely? This is another thing that makes me sad: ex-fellow lefties posting vague stuff like your toot and having the readers guess if they understood the context and the exact reference correctly or it's something entirely different.

@jonn I was responding to a wave of multiple issues from multiple communities. None were the nuanced discussion of how miltech defends against some atrocities vs. being the instrument of others, and how our work contributes to both, and how we might ever hope to separate the two. I'm criticizing those who center themselves as the real victims because any discussion of the human effects of our work makes them uncomfortable as they manage their fucking dotfiles.

@ross okay, we were talking about different things then. I was talking about the Nix "drama" (I absolutely agree with your sentiment that this is a bad and unnuanced way to put it).

Sorry for coming off too strong and assuming things!

@ross

"our work makes them uncomfortable as they manage their fucking dotfiles"

I'm too deep in to have ever paired "dotfiles" and "drama" but now that you have done, I might have to use them together.
