tried to set up kubernetes for the first time to see if it was any good, it immediately stole port 443 from nginx when i never asked it to do that :)
i held off on trying kubernetes until now because it seemed like the "don't worry about understanding what's going on, just run our boilerplate generator" type of software that would make wild assumptions about what i want to do without asking and so far it has done exactly that
@jonn@social.doma.dev i really like docker, containers are a nice way to distribute software
kubernetes left a bad taste in my mouth because it surprised me by doing something i didn't ask for, i was expecting a container runtime but i got a surprise webserver that broke the one i was already running
@w the problem I had with #docker originally was how wasteful it is if you distribute software with VMs like JVM.
Only when I started zerohr, I found a good use case for docker that makes sense to me – using docker-compose to effortlessly set up tun devices and connect containers to those. 🙂
