Instead of today's #dungeon23...
My character facing off against a wyvern in the moors.
We had to put two of them down to retrieve lost artifacts. 14 HD dealt with by two retainers, a level 4 strong and a level 1 wise.
Almost died to crocodiles while fishing on our way back to town too... 😃
Good session! Love #whitehack system and #nsr play style!
@bluetyson ahhh I want to learn more! I've superficially researched meso-American cultures for #IcyNSR starter deck to make sure that I'm getting inspired by more than just European cultures and designing for everyone.
@bluetyson ...and done some OK fishing with a net. So he figured he'd do it again. Rolled a 20 over 17 constitution and 1 on d6 for encounters. So it was ruled collaboratively that I "netted" a croc, who pounced, and I proceeded to plopping down from the log.
Then, as my character was screaming for help, he needed to survive for 3 rounds. What I loved about this compared to some other systems I played, was that unprepared powerful character almost died to a croc attack. Because...
@bluetyson ...he was not prepared for this. And if not for my buddies, there was 0 chance my character would've survived.
I had to make a save vs special combat moves or die, for instance after I got grappled by the creature.
So yea, "nothing at stake" may be the real reason why people hate travel in mainstream ttrpgs. 🙂
@bluetyson regarding the actual encounter, it was absolutely epic. We were camping in the dunes on a sandy beach, everyone absolutely relaxed and on the top of the world after retrieving long lost artefacts... My character took his armour off to get nice rest and feel better about chilling at the shore.
Since we were out of rations, we've started hunting and fishing. The day prior, my character chopped a couple of small trees to make an improvised pier in the shallows...
