@EugeneMcParland that's why I always keep saying that we shouldn't undersestimate russia and russians. It's just the law of large numbers that among the millions of orcs in mordor, there are some that are more savvy and smart than an above-average elf.

russia’s security service, the FSB, has compromised private phones of UK government employees and journalists to interfere with UK political processes, parliament has heard.

Foreign Office Minister Leo Docherty told MPs today that high-profile politicians and civil servants were the target of sustained attempts to interfere in UK political processes.

40 years of Turbo Pascal, the coding dinosaur that revolutionized IDEs

The legacy can still be felt today It is 40 years since Turbo Pascal revolutionized the coding marketplace with a slick (for the time) Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and performance to spare. So why aren't we all using it today?…

“Appealing to the morality/ humanity of the Kremlin is an exercise in futility. Russia is not constrained by high ideals but only by its capabilities. Western discussions about forcing 🇺🇦 into a peace deal with Russia encourage Moscow to expand its offensive.”

@shanselman hm, I'm normally taking to to see a doctor, ngl. But I guess "having healthcare" is a gradient innit.

The Police of Netherlands is showing how to deal with pro hamas demonstrators.
The state must show them that red lines and the rule of law are not negotiable.

@PeachKing90 what do you feel is proportionate response to Oct 7th?

@ladybuginthemug@infosec.exchange interesting take. I used to support palestine before Oct 7th, but practically speaking, palestinians voted for hamas and they are backed by russia and iran. So even from the standpoint of sheer pragmatism, people who care about Ukraine should support Israel's right to wage a defensive war. Not in the least because when Ukraine will be establishing DMZ in People's Republic of Belhorod, it's better to have a precedent.

@wholesomedonut big counterfeit monkey energy! Play it if you didn't yet! It's like of by Emily Short.

@PeachKing90 I'm pretty sure it applies only to those who support palestine during this conflict, as in, after Oct 7th. After hamas is destroyed, we all will once again support independent palestine. In the meantime, please respect the countries right to wage defensive war no matter you like the countries or not. If the way you feel about Jews or Israel prevents you from doing so (I myself am not a huge fan of Israel), then you, by logic, should be against Ukrainian hits deep into russian territory or, in theory, Baltic states being able to counter-strike russia if it ever attacks.

It's war, not a "normal life", you can't stop the it with a hashtag, you can only stop it with a military action.

It's a bit funny how similar and humans are. First reaction (in presence of limited "brain-" power) is to start guessing. But when asked not to guess, it figures things out.

recorded a Windows 95 full disk defrag to soothe your timeline.

@LALegault I think we agree on most points, except that I don't think that you have to be a fan of a country to respect their right to wage defensive war.

Re: adult population, for instance, I think we agree as well, highlighting my toot:

> Majority of *****the adult***** population of palestine has voted for and celebrated the Oct 7th massacre.

Damn, I think that perl8 dot com got sold? This was the easiest way I knew how to get to the official website of .

@chrisschmitz

Everything they do reminds me of russia in Ukraine—refusing to believe it has a right to exist, constant barrages with no military targets, just destruction of people and the things that make up their lives. But most of all, how many times have we heard use of the word *pogrom* in the past week? It’s the same horrific behavior perpetrated over an entire century, and allowed rise again in the unspeakable acts seen in both places.
