The week is over, here are some charts:
For two weeks in a row, #Mastodon brought more #traffic than #X / #Twitter to heise.de.
But I forgot, that's not just via @heiseonline, but also @heisec, @ct_Magazin, @heiseautos, @iX_Magazin etc. (but for Twitter its the same).

#Bluesky is way behind, #Threads even more. Only Twitter is clearly falling.

Potentially unpopular take:

Attribution is a distraction.

Most orgs are not mature enough for attribution to actually differentiate response (just like honeypots).

Layer 8 is obsessed with attribution -- perhaps to make things more dramatic / urgent? -- so it persists.

So such things get chased, to the detriment of the basics.

These are NE executables. So windows 3.x.

Those... shouldn't be loading. Unless they're 32bit, somehow... is win32s being invoked here? and somehow working? on a 64bit OS?

did they embed a 16bit x86 emulator into their program? (no)

I wrote this 20 years ago.

Change the names and it’s the exact same today.

I feel like walking into the ocean.

In 1994, #Ukraine was one of the very few countries in the world ever to give up its nuclear arsenal and demilitarise. Actual #nuclear disarmament!

In exchange, russia was one of the nuclear powers who committed to guarantee the #security, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Now, that very country - #russia - invaded non-nuclear Ukraine and constantly threatens to attack Ukrainians and those who uphold the Budapest Memorandum with nuclear bombs.

Think about that for a moment.

Finished a game for a game jam sort of thing! It's small, I blasted it out in two weeks.

(Plus tests! Nice thing about text games, you can write lots of regression and end-to-end tests.)

Will announce when it goes live. Right now I'm just feeling like I finished a game of my own for the first time in, well, two years since the last jam I did.

🇬🇧⚠️ Russia is prepared to launch a wave of cyber attacks on Britain - and can "turn the lights off for millions of people", - Sky News

❗️Pat McFadden will tell a NATO conference next week allies must "not underestimate" the threat Moscow poses in its "hidden war".

I can count on one hand the number of my clients over the past couple of years who haven't either over-architected for scale or were unnecessarily concerned about it.

You don't need to understand Distributional Little's Law to figure this out, it's obvious with primary school level math.

❗️Russia will completely exhaust the West's air defense in 2-3 months. Europe is not ready for war, - Zaluzhnyi

⚠️ NATO countries are still not looking for ways to counter Shaheds and missiles. Instead, they rely on F-16s and air defense systems, the number of which is limited.

A lot of it boils down to "show, don't tell". Ana has so many lore dumps.

Okay, reading detective fiction is actually not useless. Aside from it engaging brain, it's an exercise in literature. Like... Ana Moncrief's works are unintelligible when you are barraged with indistinguishable characters, spaced out and intercalated.

Compare to Horowitz. Aside from better and more era-appropriate language, his narration is ruthlessly precise, yet never mechanical. Easily followed, but deep and intricate.
