Well, here's the cyberpunk part of the dystopia. Congrats Linux users, you're all criminals now.

Starting on January 19, 2025 Facebook's internal policy makers decided that Linux is malware and labelled groups associated with Linux as being "cybersecurity threats". Any posts mentioning DistroWatch and multiple groups associated with Linux and Linux discussions have either been shut down or had many of their posts removed.

Searched Perplexity for an obscure term that likely appears only on my website. Was immediately hit by their bot, which is disallowed by my robots.txt, and served a barely paraphrased version of my CC BY-SA content. I was not cited in its sources, but it did link back to the Radio Advertisers Bureau, which shares my initials, if not my love of Emacs.

No billionaire has a conscience. The very act of accumulating that much money and power demonstrates clearly their priorities and values. Anyone who isn't a glutton is eventually sated, but they're never sated.

It's a mistake to view the past behavior of billionaires as representing their true selves and their present behavior as deference or fear. To the contrary, they now feel safe to take off their masks and reveal the monsters underneath, because one of their own is in power.

My brain is still struggling to unlearn the years of algorithmic social media. I had become fearful of “liking” anything or following anyone, because it would skew my timeline.
