Also, part of why I find smart contracts in etherium and such fascinating is that like a decade ago when I was first learning proof assistants I briefly was like "huh I wonder if you could encode laws in formal logic and handle legal disputes with proofs using an interactive theorem prover" and, like, quickly decided that this was a pretty goofy idea beyond trivialities

and yet you have people putting billions of dollars into something objectively way effing worse than the kind of idea a beginning student thinks of and discards in like a week

When tell you they won , don't remind them about lend-lease. Remind them that Molotov flew to Berlin in 1940 to discuss joining the war on the side of axis. Only since NSDAP and hitler personally have treated them a dangerous ally, they were ghosted and attacked one year later.

There's some polish person (who lived in russia, admittedly) who's supporting usage of soviet symbols, using slurs towards Ukrainians and sides with blatant putinists (see my previous too) while at the same time posting pro-Ukrainian content in their feed.

This is why we have to be vigilant and eradicate covert imperialists! We also have to make sure that after Ukraine is victorious these cover imperialists stay in whatever fragment of russia they end up by that time.

Justice for Ukraine!

One more defender of "liberal" lor.ru!
Ask yourself, why do only lads like this defend russian "liberals".

Phony soulless degenerates. We have to track them and prevent them from getting anywhere near civilisation.

Covert liberals are worse than overt. That's why I'm adding lor.sh to defederation of mastodon.ml. Remember people like @skobkin and @drq. They are complicit.

Noone could match Dame Vivienne Westwood on design + fit + point of view; when my flatmate worked at Selfridges on the designer floor I'd go in and try on the latest Westwood...I still think about a couple of those coats, gawjus. Anglomania is the collection everyone cites.

Mother of Punk and endlessly passionate about climate change and saving the NHS I never stopped paying attention to her.

@jonn the whole red orchestra thing is amazing. There was one source that was reporting to Switzerland which was from the German high command. They took an enigma machine and a code book and gave it to a Russian agent in Switzerland. Taught him how to use it. Then to send messages they just encrypted them and put them into the army radio transmission queue for sending from the army HQ radio. So the messages went out with all the regular traffic lol

It’s the perfect cover. Having the place that sends encrypted radio transmissions send out your encrypted radio transmission.

That's all. I just think that's neat.

Today I have learned that toxic sh****le by the name of linux.org.ru has a mastodon instance. It's called lor.sh and doesn't advertise affiliation. At least one of their moderators is advertising the enemy of Ukraine and the West @drq on their peertube instance.

Remember, the situation with (a supposed liberal TV channel) doing fundraising for is just an example of a general trend of pseudo-liberals waging information war (admittedly, sometimes inadvertently, by virtue of carrying deep-rooted imperialist worldview). In case of they were stupid enough to go overt, but the plague still spreads via , and other media. Remember that under Mr. are openly using nazi tropes to paint Baltic states and Baltic people as a threat to russia and russians. They sneak this into criticism of putin and many people overlook it. But that's exactly how good propaganda works. It needs to penetrate deeper than shallow "us vs them", it plants tropes, ideas, concepts and then, when the time is right, it utilises those to achieve whichever goal those with power need to be achieved.

Social media accounts employing propaganda tropes, slurs towrads Ukrainians, nazi slogans, regardless of intent, are ticking time bombs, as propaganda waves ripple through social networks, causing an avalanche effect.

Don't fall for covert russian , defederate mastodon.ml, call out and report overt rushism, keep track of the enemies of the West.

We have to not repeat mistakes of and make sure that those supporting russia and/or putin don't have a way into the Western society. We failed with letting nazis roam around freely after the .

We fucked with , let's at least not fuck up with accountability for the enemies!

Slava Ukraini! Death to occupiers!

I'm assuming we're all agreed that the quote of the year is:

@lpil btw, I noticed that you're on the mastodon instance of linux.org.ru. Can you, in a couple of words, explain the choice?

They're friends[1] with the @drq@mastodon.ml guy who uses nationalist slurs against Ukrainians (while declaring that he's "against the war", whatever that means).

In general, linux.org.ru is known for having a lot of right-leaning on it.

They're also running and hosting @rf bot, the profile of which I've dissected in another toot of mine[2].

When I called them out for using slurs and anti-Ukraine sentiment while declaring the "pacifist" values (as if you can be pacifist in the face of nazi germany or putin's russia), they really have revealed their true colours. I have a set of screenshots where are barking at me for calling out the slurs and pro-soviet-alignment / usage of soviet symbols in their community.

I strongly suggest people to defederate mastodon.ml, and after looking at the "devil's advocate" in the profile of lor.sh's admin @dump_stack, I wouldn't be surprised if I'll have to defederate it as well (and strongly suggest fellow Western instance admins to follow suite).

@jonn to be fair he was operating in Switzerland and it didn’t matter that much. Things were much worse with other parts of the red orchestra. Like the whole network that got collapsed because the code for encrypting data was incorrectly executed.

There was a double encryption pass, and then an encryption pass that was changed every day. There were 31 “keys” and it was meant to be used as a 1:1 mapping to the day of the month. But the guy using it thought it was a rotating key. So the first two months everything is fine. On day 31 he uses key 31, and then he rotates and starts at key 1 which is for them the day 1 key. But then there is the 30th (key 30) and then the 1st .. for him key 31, and for them, key 1. And they can’t decrypt. Then the 2nd, for them key 2, but for him key 1. And so it gets more and more out of sync and they don’t know what has happened.

So they sent the address of the guy running the radio to another agent with the instructions to go over there and figure out wtf is going on with the crypto codes. the Germans record all these messages, and it turns out that the “go to this address” gets broken some months later. And the Germans go to that address. And it all falls apart.

I always found it interesting how the problem was a mistake in training on the encryption, followed by the mistake make while trying to fix the first problem. Mistakes only accumulate.

The museum's terracotta warriors all snap to attention and speak in unison. “Initializing.”

On February 24, under bombs, millions of Ukrainians received messages ranging from “I hope you die” to “don’t worry, our army will liberate you from nazis soon.” They were sent by former classmates, relatives, coworkers, and friends in Russia.

The same thing happened in 2014.
