Just to make sure I piss the lefties and righties off equally: I consider #Israel to be one of the very few nationalistic and fascist *democratic* states. I'm happy that it's a democracy and that there is a chance for change.

That said, you don't have to be a fan of a country to support defensive war. Same goes for any country in the world that defends against massive atrocities. Remember, hundreds of people who happened to be in Israel have died on Oct 7th alone.

If you understand the concept of #NotJustPutin, you probably should understand the concept of #NotJustHamas?

My "you don't have to see it to believe it"[1] friends, somehow asked to see photos and videos of the atrocities committed by the palestinian combatants this war.

At a risk of getting defederated for content policy violation, I'll politely defer to the channel of, say, Yigal Levin over at Telegram.

I'll just attach one video which should comply with the content policies because it's not graphic, but horrible nonetheless. It depicts the reaction of "regular palestinians" to one of the hostages taken into the country of #palestine. Flogging ensued.

It's funny because I can demonstrate transcripts of me speaking in supporting #palestine pre-Oct 7th.

I think that fellow lefties just don't understand the difference between wartime and normality. In this particular war, the defenders have to be victorious first first and then we can talk about borders, autonomy, etc.

But also, I perceive the context of this war in the context of the war that affects me personally, the war in #Ukraine. Where there is the axis of #russia #iran #china #hungary against the alliance of #ukraine #USA #UK #EU. #Hamas supporters are clearly my enemies in the war that affects me.

It's almost impossible to get a W for palestinian propaganda these days, there's just no way around the atrocities committed on Oct 7th, Oct 8th. However, one of the biggest freebie that they've got from most of the western media is the label of the invasion as "terrorism". It was a combined warfare operation, involving MRLS, mortars, naval, air and ground incursions. The fact that their combatants wears flip flops doesn't mean that they don't weild automatic weapons. The fact that there were uncountable war crimes committed during these two days doesn't mean it is just terrorism.

It's war.

I tried so hard to empathise with pro-palestinian people, I even have a textual evidence of me discussing that with my Jewish friends, but it's so hard to feel empathy towards, let alone associate with people who post arab propaganda and ask their readers not to make evidence-based judgements.

What's especially fucked up them comparing the ratko mladich's unprovoked massacre with retaliation strikes for a documented (not least by hamas and palestinians themselves) massacre. By that logic, the author of these toots should side with serbs during the retaliation that was happening in Yugoslavian war.

I can't even.

It's scary to see that the organizations that I felt represent quintessential evil, that killed #AaronSwartz, that facilitated useless mass surveilance, that robbed "the people" of dignity, turn out to be the allies of the #freedom, even if temporary, whereas the organizations that I felt represented quintessential good, that facilitated surveilance avoidance, that gave us all options to talk securely about whatever subject we want to discuss, fall to dreadful actors like #russia, #iran, #hamas.

The most fucked up thing is that there are a lot of fellow lefties who are blind to this effect. Women who support killing women by the "guardians of the revolution" in #Iran, mothers who support slaying Jewish children in Israel, social justice advocate who support slamming #Ukraine with rockets just because they have read a book by a guy who never made anything real in his life (#Marx) and heard that #Lenin was also cool.

When you read about the Cambridge Five and you think "what a bunch of fools, how could they have fallen for the soviet narrative?", look around. Take a walk in London past UCL. Count the leninist posters featuring, I kid you not, Vladimir Ilyitch Ullianov-Lenin (I bet the stupid fucks don't even know his full name, hah). Authoritarian brain-washing is very strong and will be strong, no matter which authoritarian state we're talking about. Brainwashing is a pillar of survival of such states, thus it will always be ahead of the Western propaganda.

There are new Cambridge Fives, and possibly in the organizations that you or I have donated to before.

Finally, this idiocy of the left only pours more water on the right-wing watermill.

The least we can do right now, is to TEMPORARILY stop donating to the far-left orgs and orgs like @eff, stop relaying opinions of or mentioning russian agents like Snowden, actively isolate iran, hamas, russia supporters and track them with best effort. Knowing to be careful around them or feeding them disinformation, can literally save lives.

The war is in everyday life, don't underestimate your impact.
