The First Real Application of #CategoryTheory #SoME3
I just had a Thought. Obviously, we can't simply pass a law banning #X specifically from operating in the #EuropeanUnion . It would set a terrible precedent, likely wouldn't pass the courts, and wouldn't be very effective since X could just rebrand itself or something.
But we _could_ introduce, say, the "Social Media Transparency Act" which would require all social media systems operating in the European Union to either use a strict timeline, _or_ publish the precise algorithm they use to show content to their users. And if there are any variables specific to the user, their profile, their region and so forth, then users must be able to request the values of these parameters as they apply to them at any time.
And if any social media companies in the European unions do not comply... well _then_ we can fine and/or ban them!
Does this sound like a plan?
The key words "MUST", "MUST NOT", "SHOULD", "SHOULD NOT", "RECOMMENDED BUT REPULSIVE", "WRONG BUT WROMANTIC", "FREQUENTLY MISUNDERSTOOD", "NOBODY BOTHERS WITH THIS BIT", "SHOULDN'T REALLY BUT WE WON'T JUDGE", "REQUIRED IN ORDER TO WORK AROUND EVERYONE ELSE'S BUGS", "YOU DO YOU", and "OBVIOUSLY ABSURD BUT VERY COMMON FOR SOME REASON" in this document are to be interpreted as described in RFC 2119.

If you don't condemn all males (yes, including non-binary cuties like me) and if you as a male don't actively remind females that YOU are a threat to them (yes, this includes LGBTQA+ males), please read the "not all men" section of this article.
This week is another reminder that:
We don't have an energy shortage
We don't have an insulin shortage
We don't have a housing shortage
We don't have a teacher shortage
We don't have a labor shortage
We don't have a food shortage
We have a billionaire excess who buy politicians to deny us access to basic human rights.
Early in 2025, BT, Virgin Media, Sky, TalkTalk, EE and Plusnet will be required to abuse DNS to attempt to block customer access to:

I haven’t found a copy of the actual court judgment / order, just PR fluff and regurgitations of it.
This is under the UK’s copyright law framework; this kind of administrative blocking order is the backstop power under the Online Safety Act.
